Moving Day
The movers came today and luckily Olin slept through the first 2 hours of the job (this little guy really can sleep through anything) so we were able to get most of the move done without his "help". We are defnitely ready to relax with Olin's grandparents over the next two weeks before we leave for NYC. It's been a big day and we are all exhausted!

Saying Good-bye to Sunnyside
We found the most lovely church to attend during our year in South Bend that is aptly named Sunnyside Presbyterian Church because the people of the church are so incredibly warm and welcoming. So much so that they begin the announcements for the day with a cheerful 'Good Morning Sunnysiders!' and eat more cake than any other church we have been to - given that cake is hands down my favorite food and at the top of Josh's list, this ritual was not lost on us. And I swear the sun shone in that sanctuary every single Sunday that we were in attendance. Olin loved to play in the nursery with Ms. Marion and would squeal with delight when we pulled into the church parking lot.
Today was our last Sunday at Sunnyside and although we are excited to return home to our church in NYC, we are so thankful to have found such a wonderful place to spend our Sunday mornings this past year.

Feeding Olin: Salmon, Quinoa and Broccoli "Croquettes"
Because I get a lot of questions about food and nutrition I thought I would post some of my more inspired menu items that I come up with for Olin. Also, I should really put that expensive NYU nutrition education to some sort of use!
So with that, the first installment of Feeding Olin is rooted in desperation to get Olin to eat a meal that I have tried to feed him no less than a half dozen times without success - wild salmon, broccoli, and some sort of grain. Last night's grain of choice was quinoa and like the previous attempts, he did not eat a single bite. So today for lunch, determined to get him to eat this nutritionally packed trio, I added a little melted mozzarella as a binder to last night's left-overs of quinoa with bits of broccoli and salmon, formed the mixture into balls, coated the balls with Panko, and fried them in a little canola oil to make my own version of baby-sized croquettes. The verdict: he loved them - he ate every last bite - finally!
Have a great long weekend everyone!

The Graduate
The event we have been anticipating has finally arrived - I graduated today. Didn't we just arrive in South Bend yesterday? The year has flown by and we have loved our time here at Notre Dame. Thank you to everyone for your love and support this year - it means so much to me. And especially thank you to my boys because coming home to your smiling faces made the stressful days so much easier and the great days just that much better - I love you both more than all the numbers. The memories from this year will be ones that I cherish forever. Go Irish! (sorry, Matt)

Sleepover with Grandma and Date Night
We have all been happy in the Burgher house today because Grandma Peg came for a sleepover last night so Josh and I could go to one of the final MBA events. Olin has been in heaven with Grandma around and Josh and I definitely needed some time alone - especially after that long flight to and from California last week. Thanks so much Grandma - we love you!
New Shoes!
Olin got new sandals this week...
... and he seems to have inherited my need to immediately wear any new purchase regardless of how ridiculous the context (sweaters in July, sandals in December, why not!) because not only did he wear the shoes out of the store and keep them on for the remainder of the day, but the next morning he insisted on putting on his new shoes before he did anything else and was so desperate to wear them that he tried to put them on by himself. I actually think the sandals almost work with the pajamas - perhaps he will start a new trend among babies. Will he always be this excited to get new clothes and shoes? Oh, I hope so!
Sorry for posting this picture, Josh!

The Character at Storytime
Olin was such a ham at Notre Dame's storytime today that I had to get a few minutes of his performance on video. What a privilege it is to raise this little boy - he always makes me smile.
(it starts off a little slow, but he really get's into it)
California Baby
We spent this past long weekend in Northern California where we visited our family in Pleasanton, celebrated our beautiful niece Sydney's 16th birthday, enjoyed food and wine in Napa, soaked up some knowledge at UC Berkeley and Stanford, dined in San Francisco, and even toured Facebook headquarters courtesy of my brother (ironic, we know, given our ineptitude with the site, but really fun nonetheless). Many thanks to our wonderful tour guides - Rob, Julie and Syd - we wish we didn't live so far away.
