Pizza Night!

I'll admit that I get excited by some pretty lame things, one of which being the make your own pizza night that I have been dreaming about for the longest time.  Well, last night that dream finally came true and it was pretty great.  It would have been even better if Olin ate more than 3 bites of his finished pizza, but his appetite has not fully recovered from his stomach bug so I will take it.  Plus, hearing him say "pizza" over and over in his cute little voice made it all worth it.

Little mister went for cheese and broccoli on his pizza and it was a work of art by the time he was finished... the pictures don't do it justice.  He is supposed to go to a real NYC pizza shop this year with his class.  Here's hoping that he learns a few things on his field trip that he can bring home to teach mom and dad to make our next make your own pizza night even better!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Olin's Holiday Break

Olin is back at school today so I thought I would share a few Instagrams from the past two weeks...  (By the way, it's a little embarrassing how many of these photos are of us out to eat - apparently we primarily get inspired to bring out the camera when we are waiting for food!)

A few more from Christmas morning - Olin helped make pancakes that he enjoyed eating under the Christmas tree before he started in on his presents.

Dinner at Sarabeth's after a shopping trip for little girl's clothes that was ultimately unsuccessful.  We never really thought of this place for dinner - it's really good for breakfast and brunch - but we had an incredible dinner that night!

Little mister is lucky to have so many people in his life that love him that the number of gifts for him to open was just too much for one day so we had to spread it out to the days following Christmas as well!

One frigid morning, we rolled out of bed and headed down to the West Village for an always amazing breakfast at 'sNice.

We drove out to Long Island for some after Christmas shopping.  We were successful this time and found our little girl on the way a lot of cute things at Saks.  And don't worry, Olin got a few things as well!  We surprisingly didn't take any pictures of him in the mall, but we took this one at lunch at our suburban staple... Panera!

Enjoying our last few days with the Christmas tree.  Without saying a word, one day Olin went into his room, got his rocking chair and then pulled it out to the living room where he then just sat and stared at the tree.  I am dreading the day that we have to take it down - he is going to be so disappointed - he says 'goodbye' to it when we leave the apartment and 'hello' to it as soon as we arrive back home.  If it were a fake tree, I swear I would just keep it up and replace the Christmas ornaments with Valentine's Day decorations.

Last night, Olin and I walked up to Columbia so that we could walk Josh home from work and on nearly every street corner on our way there were piles of discarded Christmas trees waiting to be picked up.  He just kept exclaiming "Christmas tree! Christmas tree!" when we passed by so excited to see so many, not realizing that the trees were now in fact trash.

Grammy Marion also came for a visit over the break, but I will include those photos in a separate post because this one is getting a little long!

Christmas Day Photos

Olin woke up this morning feeling much better so it appears the stomach bug has passed... thank goodness because tomorrow he goes back to school and I know he has been missing his friends and teachers.

While he naps this morning, I thought I would finally post some photos from Christmas Day...

And because I can't help myself, a few from baby Olin's very first Christmas...

Goodbye 2012. Hello 2013.

It's bittersweet to say farewell to 2012 because it has been such a great year for our family... I got my MBA, we found our way back to NYC, our little boy started school and continues to amaze us every day, we learned that we have another little one on the way and then we found out that that little one is a girl!  These are just a few of the many memories from 2012 - we really have been blessed this past year and are so thankful for everything.

Unfortunately, 2013 did not start out exactly as we would have hoped.  We planned a very low key New Year's Eve celebration with dinner reservations at the super-hip time of 5:30 pm at the Greek restaurant Kefi.  Dinner was just okay, but my dates were very handsome and well behaved, except one of them smeared Tzatziki in his hair, perhaps mistaking it for a deep hair conditioner.  Afterwards, we grabbed some Starbucks on the way home, ending our evening promptly at 7 pm so that we could get little mister to bed.

That should have been our entire evening except that poor Olin woke up sick, somewhat ironically, at about 11:57 pm.  So as the ball dropped in Times Square, the poor little thing was vomiting and continued to do so well into the wee hours of the morning.  He finally fell asleep around 3:30 am getting up every hour or so after that until he was up for good around 6:30 am.  Josh being the wonderful husband that he is did the bulk of the work last night and got up with Olin so that I could keep sleeping this morning.

Today our little guy has been running a bit of a fever and doesn't have much of an appetite, but the vomiting has stopped and he has drank a fair amount of fluids so hopefully he is on the mend.  We think that it is perhaps just a bit of a stomach bug or some bad food and hope that it is short lived so that we can get on with the new year!

Hopefully everyone else's 2013 started out better than Olin's!  Happy New Year everyone!
