Two Month Check-up

Bright and early this morning, Odette had her two month check-up with the pediatrician.  She weighed 12 pounds 10 ounces and is developing nicely.  Her weight is in the 85th percentile while her length is in the 30th percentile... not exactly a supermodel physique, but it makes for a super cute baby!  I had fat rolls for days as a baby so I think this little one is taking after her mommy!

Today, our girl also got her first round of vaccines - three in her chubby little thighs and one administered orally.  I have never heard her cry as hard as she did when she felt that first needle, but she had calmed herself back down before the nurse even had the band-aid on.

Although Odette is doing just fine, I, given my hypochondriac tendencies, will be taking her temperature every hour on the hour to ensure she is having no adverse reactions to the vaccines.  Unfortunately, I have to take it rectally so her day just keeps getting better and better!

Have a great weekend everyone!

A Lesson in Skipping Rocks

I think these two are just a little young yet, but you've got to love Josh for trying.  To Olin and Millie's credit, they both watched Josh as he demonstrated, but then went right back to chucking the rocks and shells (overhand) into the water.  Maybe next time...

Olin and Millie at the Beach

Okay, I realize that the number of photos below is excessive, especially since they are nearly all the same, but this is the best I could do at editing because I love them all.  Looking at these little smiling faces just makes me happy!

I think that spending the day with Millie on Sunday was just what Olin needed because although these two barely seemed to notice that their baby sisters were around, I have learned that 2 year olds are more sensitive and intuitive than they seem on the surface and I think it was nice for Olin to know that his friend Millie is going through the same monumental change at home that he is.

Olin and Millie have such a special relationship and it is a joy and privilege to watch them grow up together.  I have never seen Olin have so much fun for so long with one of his friends.  Millie truly is the female version of Olin.  I always thought that they were similar because they are so close in age, but after getting to know Olin's classmates from school this year, I have come to realize that their age is only one small part of it.  I think these two were just meant to be friends!

If you missed earlier posts of Olin and Millie, see here and here and here.

Baby Girls

It seems very fitting that Odette's first friend is little Paige Fox as Millie (Paige's older sister) was Olin's first friend.  The two little ladies met each other on Sunday and they could not have been cuter.

Paige is one month older than Odette as is Millie to Olin so now it is extra special to get our families together.  And just like Millie and Olin have very similar personalities, Paige and Odette seem to share some similarities as well... both have calm, easy-going personalities, they love to be held, they don't like to be swaddled, they are good sleepers, and they both have the sweetest little smiles.

{As a side note, I do realize that my pinky fingers are not painted in the photos below.  It turns out that little miss Odette does not love pacifiers, but as recommended by her pediatrician, she will suck on our pinky fingers for soothing in between feedings so I didn't want her ingesting goodness knows what they put in nail polish!}

 If meeting her first friend wasn't enough for one day, Odette also had her first trip to the beach...

We had such a great time and I can't wait to see another Burgher/Fox duo grow up together.   Although, I think our family is now complete so you are on your own for baby #3 Fox family!

{A flashback to Olin and Millie in Denver about two and a half years ago.  Clearly, motherhood has been much easier for me the second time around... look how upset Olin is!  Jennie seems to have had it figured out from the start!}

Speaking of Olin and Millie, I have 99 photos of them from Sunday (I'm not kidding, I just counted) and I think most of them are adorable.  So I need to take some time to edit them down to a reasonable amount for the blog because not even the grandparents want to look at that many!

First Car Ride

Just one day shy of 8 weeks old, Odette finally had her first proper car ride yesterday (i.e. not in a taxi) as we made our way out to Long Island to spend time with the Fox family.  If was a day of firsts including her first friend, her first time at the beach and her first venture off the tiny island of Manhattan!

It was the most perfect sunny Sunday morning for a drive and as is tradition for the Burgher family we listened to Jim Brickman the entire way.  True to her personality, she didn't make a peep the entire trip until she woke up about a mile from the Fox's house.  It probably also helped that she had her fun big brother as a travel companion in the backseat with her.

We turn in our car in just a few weeks and Josh and I have both been so emotional at the thought of it.  Yesterday was just one of many big memories made in that little Prius.

Here are some photos we took while loading her up in the car yesterday.  We have so many photos from our day that I will include them in separate posts.

Happy Monday everyone!

A Little Video of Little Smiles

Our little lady has been all smiles today.  Waking up to her little smiling face first thing in the morning is such a wonderful gift and I couldn't imagine life without her.  It's amazing how quickly these little ones can steal your heart.

I recently realized that I haven't shared any videos of Odette yet so here is one that I took on my phone last Thursday that I thought would be perfect for today.

Odette and I are off to a lunch date with daddy.  Happy Friday everyone and have a great weekend!

Instagrams From Rob, Julie and Syd's Visit

A few more photos from last week.... We spent some time downtown where we walked through NYU's campus, enjoyed a mid-morning snack at my favorite Chobani Soho, and shopped at Topshop (well, Sydney shopped, Odette had other plans for me - specifically feeding her in the fitting room!)

We also went uptown to have lunch with Josh and give him the opportunity to shamelessly promote Columbia to Sydney for her undergraduate studies.  I know that her parents would prefer her closer to home, but we would love to have her in the city for four years!
