Someone is Falling In Love With Christmas

Little mister could not be happier that the holiday season is in full swing.  He's even picked up a few seasonal words to communicate his delight, namely, "Christmas tree" (my favorite), "Christmas wreath", "stars", "Ho-ho-ho" and the occasional "Santa Claus".  He can't seem to get enough of the Christmas tree lots on nearly every corner of the city right now and the decorations in all the store windows.

Grandma Peg and Grandpa Greg sent Olin a box of holiday decorations and books last week, here are a couple of photos and a video of him opening the package...

If the last week was any indication, Christmas is going to be pretty fun around here this year!

While Backing Up Our Photos Today...

I realized that I didn't post many photos from Olin's actual birthday (just some from his party the weekend before).  I know it was over a month ago, but because I like to treat this blog as our virtual family scrapbook and because not much else has been happening around here this week, here are just a few...

Also, I have to say that I cannot get enough of him in his little sweatpants - he sort of reminds me of a little old man in them!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

A Cow Named Meg

Here are some of the photos from our trip to a farm while in Vermont over the weekend.  Little mister got to pet a sweet Jersey cow named Meg.  He loved meeting Meg so much that we came home and named his toy plastic cow Meg and then he insisted on taking a nap with her.  He has always had an inexplicable love for sheep, but I think after Meg, cows are moving up in his rank of favorite farm animals!

Our farm visit wasn't just about Meg though, we also met some adorable calves and took a hay ride around the farm... it was really cold, but it sure was fun.

We LoVermont

Bright and early Friday morning, we loaded up the car and headed for the pine trees and fresh air of Woodstock, Vermont.  We shopped, we relaxed, we ate (a lot), we went to a farm... and Olin loved all of it!  We even got a little snow while we were there!

We stayed at the Woodstock Inn, which was so incredibly lovely that we were ready to move in permanently.   It was such a nice escape from the craziness of the city and the perfect way for Josh and me to celebrate our 12 year wedding anniversary.

Thank you, Vermont, for an always wonderful time!

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

P.S. We actually broke out the real camera for this trip so I will post more photos from it later this week... until then here are some of our Instagrams...

Waking up in Vermont... Olin enjoyed a sugar-laden, but entirely appropriate, breakfast of blueberry pancakes with maple syrup (of course) and homemade cider donuts.

So Much To Be Thankful For

Olin lived out one of my childhood dreams this morning when we went to see the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.  Josh and I went several years ago when we first moved to NYC and it was great then, but today it was about a million times better as we watched Olin's face light up with each passing balloon and float.

Other highlights of the day included a long walk in Central Park to enjoy the beautiful weather, good eating including a mid morning snack of David Eyre pancakes with lingonberry preserves, matching shirts worn by Josh and Olin (at Olin's request and total delight), and a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner of side dishes (Olin even helped!) - the turkey took way longer than expected and Josh just now pulled it out of the oven at nearly 9pm.  Oops, I guess we will know better for next year!

Josh always says that we have an embarrassment of riches and days like today remind me of just how right he is.  We are so thankful to have all of you in our lives and hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

We are off to Vermont tomorrow for a little escape from the city!

Over The Weekend

Last weekend was pretty uneventful for us, but we did get a few good shots of Olin in Central Park on Sunday...

And Josh gave Olin's hair a trim at home... he is a brave little boy!
