Sleeping Beauty

Just a few photos of our little girl during one of her many daily naps.  This was one of the few times she has actually got to sleep in her bed... she is just way too fun to hold and cuddle!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Olin and Odette

I'm still trying to catch up on posting some of the many photos (literally hundreds) that we've taken over the past 2 plus weeks and these below just happen to be some of my favorites.  Here is Olin holding Odette for the very first time on the day we brought her home from the hospital.  He did a great job - he was very gentle and gave her lots of kisses.  We are so proud of our little guy (and gal).

A Scooter for Olin

Last Thursday we got Olin a scooter as a fun treat amongst all the recent change.  However, a meltdown on the way out of the store over a toy fire truck made us reluctant to give him his new scooter right away.

As a result, we devised a system where Olin could earn "stars" for star behavior and once he earned 10 stars, the scooter was his.  Josh and Olin even made the cutest little chart to track stars earned that we hung on the refrigerator.  Unfortunately, our little guy has not been listening as well as we would like so it took him until yesterday to earn that last star, but earn it he did and he finally got that scooter.  And he so cutely said "thank you, Daddy! thank you, Mommy!" when we gave it to him

He is not really riding it yet - he mostly walks it around the house like it's a horse, but I am confident that he is going to pick it up in no time and will be zooming through the park all summer long.  Also, I can't get enough of him in that helmet... so cute!

The First Weekend of Summer

To celebrate the start of summer, on Saturday we braved the long line at Shake Shack (out the door and around the corner) for burgers, fries and milkshakes for me and Josh and a hot dog (his first!) and fries for Olin.  The food was well worth the wait and our dining room was even better... we ate al fresco in the park outside the Natural History Museum on the most beautiful evening.  Odette also ate (on a secluded park bench) - her first picnic!

It was also apparently daddy/daughter "wear green" day...

On Sunday, we were reminded of one of the many reasons we love this city when we stumbled upon a little French street festival on our way home from church complete with a boules tournament!

And even baby Odette woke up for a few minutes to enjoy the festivities...
Welcome summer - we are glad that you are here!

Nine Months

A photographic documentation of my journey with my little girl over the past nine months.

P.S.  I can't take credit for creatively thinking of this myself... I saw something similar Pinterest and just had to do the same!

Last Day of School

Last Friday we celebrated Olin's last day of his first year of school.  I can't believe the school year has already come and gone!  His teachers put together the sweetest little video of photos from the year set to a soundtrack of all the music the children studied over the past several months and no matter how many times I watch it, it makes me cry every time.

Here are a few photos of our morning walk to school we made as a family to support our little guy on his last day, his wonderful teachers Corny and Joanna, and then some from the playground, which we went to after school to celebrate with some play time and ice cream.  Olin even tie-dyed the t-shirt he is wearing in the photos on the swing.

Little mister really loved going to school this year and one of my greatest hopes for him is that he remains this passionate about school and learning... he is our son, so there is a pretty good chance that he will!

And Olin on his first day of school last September.  I am not embarrassed to admit that I started crying (and not just a tear or two, full out sobbing) when I pulled up these photos.  He is growing way too fast, but Josh and I could not be more proud of our little boy.
