Uno!

Today, I am officially 39 weeks pregnant which means one week to go.  And in even better news, I just came from my doctor's office and perhaps this little girl won't even make us wait that long as I am three, almost four centimeters dilated and she said that there's a good chance the baby will arrive before my due date.  I can't express how exciting this new development is, particularly because I have been one centimeter dilated for the last 3 weeks and felt like this baby was never coming out.

I, however, was apparently one of the only ones who believed that she would never arrive.  Last Friday, while waiting at the street corner for the light to change and taking the opportunity to stretch my aching back, this complete stranger who was sitting on a bench talking on his phone, interrupted his conversation to yell over to me "Hey!  Are you okay?", clearly thinking I was going into labor and then everybody around us started staring at me.  It was pretty embarrassing. And the day before that, while waiting for the bus, a nice older lady asked me if I was close to my hospital.  At the time, I thought she was just curious if I lived near my hospital, but in retrospect, I think she meant at that moment was I close to my hospital in case I was to go into labor right then.

No. this is not a picture of me (my photographer was busy working at his real job today) but I had to share this photo of my friend Erin who is 36 weeks pregnant because she looks so beautiful in it.  I can't tell you how exciting it is to have friends that are pregnant at the same time, but to have one of your oldest best friends only 3 weeks apart in their pregnancy from yours is quite possibly as good as it gets.  I can't wait to introduce our girls - I just know that they will be instant best friends.  Now if only she didn't live in a different city!
